Dolen, Kovatchevitza and Leshten are villages, situated in the far western part of the Rhodope Mountains.
Kovachevitsa village is situated in the basin of the Kanina /Blood/river and is surrounded by a string of high ridges in the south-west part of the Rhodope mountain ,called Dabrash.In 1997 the village is announced a historical and architectural reserve for its preserved original houses from the 18th-19th century.Once you visit the place, there are numerous possibilities for walks and visits:
- "Sini vir" - “Blue Pool” waterfall, that’s located to the west of the village at an hour walking, in the basin of the Blood river. There the thundering water has formed enormous cauldrons of blue-green colour.Along almost 3 kms, the river makes it difficult way between menacing from both sides vertical rocks –the interesting rock formations, known as Kayalijski skali.
- The old Roman road above the village of Kovachevitsa
- The chapel of St.George- which is situated at 2 km to the north of the village
- Also a popular formation is the Kozi kamak “Goat’s stone” countryside
Close to the three villages are the following places of interest:
- Mineral water baths at the village of Ognianovo – 7 km
- Town of Gotse Delchev, where You can visit the history museum with its rich archeological and ethnographic expositions. The ruins of the roman town of Nikopolis ad Nestum (2nd century) are also very close - 18 km
- The winter resort - Bansko - 40 km
